Level 1 · Entry
Installation Technician 1
Very early career. Learning technical and professional skills.
What you’ll do
Basic installation: pulling cable, wire wrapping, punch down, lacing and drilling. Data network and communications equipment: routers, switches, voice gateways, VoIP equipment and server racks. Low-voltage cabling: Cat 5/6 and fiber optic, structured cable distribution, patch panels and support structures (ladders, racks, brackets and hooks).
Level 2 · Early career
Installation Technician 2
Basic skills developed. Your work contributes to the success of team and product goals.
What you’ll do
All of Level 1, plus data network and telecommunications knowledge. Troubleshooting networking issues. Proficient with power tools and hand tools. Able to read schematic and line diagrams. Proficient in basic electronics. Professional, reliable, motivated to learn, and effective within time constraints.
Level 3 · Experienced
Installation Technician 3
Seasoned professional with a variety of technical skills. Strong problem solver and key to team success.
What you’ll do
All of Levels 1–2, plus: plans network installations from orders, plans, manuals and technical specifications; assesses the installation site; keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders and verifying receipt; completes daily reporting; manages multiple projects and priorities.
Level 4 · Senior
Installation Technician 4
Very senior. Solves most problems that arise and uses experience to move company goals forward.
What you’ll do
All of Levels 1–3, plus: prepares installation diagrams; verifies service by testing circuits, equipment and alarms, and corrects or escalates problems; maintains the network by troubleshooting outages, testing and back-up procedures.
Part-time · Remote
Project Admin
Administrative work, fully remote.
What you’ll do
Must have a proven track record coordinating with contractors on telecom projects.

What we look for
Minimum requirements for technician roles:
- Valid driver’s license and safe driving record
- 100% travel – able to work anywhere in the U.S., possibly for weeks at a time
- Able to distinguish colors for color-coded cable
- Able to lift 50 lbs and work aloft
- Complete required safety training
- High school diploma or GED
- Pass drug screens and background checks
- Some installation experience in telecom or IT
- Follow instructions and represent Tanicom professionally with customers, vendors and coworkers
